NEVER STOPS

A neck that once towered over doubt by now
Is her second-world sounding I wonder if
What never stops might not come to me from you
Who never goes nor comes nor is away
When only you can disallow me this longing
And the memory thereof that’s become a half-knowledge
Pursued in another’s name not to be revealed to you
A contradiction and set of elbows to be hidden
Till they’ve brought no more good to you through me
And I can only steer us towards their forgetting
When the ocean’s lapping up the continental hills
And that other city remains but a memory I can write
Then disavow while still sitting here across from you
